A car boot over here is the luggage section (the trunk in your neck of
the woods) and people fill it up and gather in a field / car park and
try to sell whats in it. you have something similar, its clled a garage
sale
BTW the big metal thing that you describe is called a wheel clamp and
its wielded by car hating people called traffic wardens... :)
